With violence and war dominating the headlines around the world, UA 170 is standing up for peace. Business Manager Al Phillips wrote a letter to members asking that they too actively speak up for peace.
The letter read, in part:
“At this time, we are asking our members to stand together in support of the goal of peace. Regardless of origin or religion, we call on everyone to join in the fight for peace.
Our ability to exist as a union—and to negotiate collective agreements and fair conditions—relies on dialogue, not violence. We call for an end to all acts of war and urge all parties around the world to enter a period of ceasefire and peace. We believe that society has progressed to the point that we should be solving the world’s problems with our collective strength – not through conflict and violence.
We call on all organizations and groups to join us in promoting and standing up for peace.”
